What an incredible feeling to be able to live your dreams: I truly can say that about myself now. My career has taken off within the past two years and has propelled me beyond my wildest imagination. I am not only singing and hosting locally in Florida, but I also have had the opportunity to travel and to share my love for people and the arts by hosting various events in many other states.
I was born to Chinese parents in a small village in South Vietnam called Dinh Quan. There is only one main road to get from Ho Chi Minh City to Dalat, the city which has the most comfortable year round temperature and beautiful scenery. My village is located midway between these two major cities. As a direct effect of the aftermath of the Vietnam War, the entire country was very poor while I was growing up.
My family is fairly large; 4 sisters and 2 brothers. I remember as a child eating only rice mixed with sweet potatoes. We ate sweet potatoes often because it was easier to grow than rice, since rice requires a certain climate to produce well. Since my parents had so many mouths to feed we could only afford a certain amount of rice, mixing the two provided us the much needed food for all of us to eat.
I was the naughty third child in the family who love to separate the sweet potatoes and ate only rice. Although my parents could only afford two sets of new clothes for each child per year, my siblings and I were fortunate to attend a school next to our house.
My childhood life was innocent and simple, yet filled with love and happiness, I remember I had so much fun and joy living such a simple life. We didn’t have a television, phone, video games, movies as entertainment or even electricity. The most unforgettable and memorable moments were those when my friends and I sat by a bonfire as we sang and danced our hearts out.
I was taught to live a life by following steps of my parents and my grandparents. I never dared to step outside of this box and dream what I really wanted for my life. Having enough food for the day was everyone’s dream no more than that.
Coming to the United States had shifted my life and thoughts 180 degrees. America is a country filled with a life of opportunities. As I grew older I started to realize that I can actually have dreams of my own about my future. Finding out my passion was easy, I knew I loved entertaining and connecting with people.
During my college years, while most of my colleagues enjoyed their nights out partying and drinking with friends or dancing at night clubs, I spent my time following my passion. Almost every weekend I spent driving from Santa Barbara to Los Angeles performing at weddings and emceeing various community functions.
Right after college, while looking for a job to pay my bills, I was working on my CD project. I didn’t know where to seek help to produce my cd all I knew was that I was following my passion. I had to do everything on my own, finding out what songs should be on the CD, getting someone to do the music arrangement, design the CD covers and even promoting the finished product.
I organized a singing concert to promote the CD to the Vietnamese and Chinese communities. The event was a success and overall, it was a great learning experience. To this day, I still sing at weddings and events. See more on www.lenaung.com.
Earlier this year I got the opportunity to create a company that not only helps me fulfill my dreams but also helps others find their passion. I co-founded a company called The Health and Wealth Annex (www.healthandwealthannex.com) where we work to transform humanity. We work to develop and implement transformational seminars, giving people access to their passions and using the maximum of their own potential.
On the journey of living the life of my dreams I have learned so much along the way and am still learning everyday. A huge part of my life is centered around being with my Health and Wealth Annex community, playing the game of making a difference in many people’s lives. We currently have events taking place in South Florida. Eventually, our goal is to expand globally.
I am still bewildered how I got here from a place of nothing to a place of abundance. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank my family, my friends, and my clients who have been supporting me unconditionally all this time.
I can only imagine what my future looks like I am blessed and honored to have your continued support and love for me. I look forward to sharing my future accomplishments with you.
